Personal statement help for medicine and dentistry

Turn your work experience, volunteering and reading into a clear, honest statement that shows admissions tutors why you are suited to the course.

How we help

Your statement is your own work. Our job is to help you find the right examples, structure them well and reflect on what you learned, which is what admissions tutors look for.

  • Choosing which experiences to include and why
  • Showing reflection, not just listing activities
  • Answering each of the UCAS personal statement questions clearly
  • Cutting to the character limit without losing substance

The UCAS format

UCAS now asks applicants to answer three set questions rather than write one free-form essay. We'll check the current guidance on the UCAS website with you and plan each answer around it.

Who reviews your statement

Statements are reviewed by Adam, a 5th-year dental student at King's College London, and by current medical students for medicine applicants.

Questions families ask

When should I start my personal statement?

Start planning in the summer after Year 12, so you have time for several drafts before the 15 October UCAS deadline for medicine and dentistry.

Will you write my statement for me?

No. Writing it for you would be dishonest and would not help you at interview, where you'll be asked about it. We guide, question and give feedback.

How many sessions will I need?

Most students need 2 to 4 sessions: one to plan, then feedback on drafts and a final check.
